Ms. Monáe has spent the last two years touring the globe supporting headliners like No Doubt and Erykah Badu, while also appearing in solo performances to promote her first full-length LP, The ArchAndroid.
Hailed as "a different kind of diva" by Vogue Magazine and as "one of the most important signings of my career" by artist/producer/actor/entrepreneur Sean "Diddy" Combs, Monáe describes The ArchAndroid as "an epic James Bond film in outer space..." including "all the things I love, like scores for films like Goldfinger mixed with albums I adore, such as Stevie's Music Of My Mind and David Bowie's Stardust."
Monáe views the last two years as a transformative period that has honed her ambition to "embrace the things that make me unique and to continue being an even bigger agent of change as an artist." She has said in interviews that music "called" to her as a child, and that at the age of 10, she sat her parents down and asked them to support her musical dreams.
"Baby, whether I'm high or low...whether I'm high or low...I gotta tip on the Tightrope." Monáe works hard to stay focused on what matters most: the music and her artistry. "As an artist, it's very important to always keep my balance, and not get too high or too low about things...to remain calm and enjoy the journey."
