Louisville Metro government has issued the following statement re: increased traffic in downtown Louisville March 14-17.
The 2012 NCAA Tournament will be in Louisville at the KFC YUM Center March 14-17.
We are anticipating a large number of visitors for the games on Thursday, March 15, and Saturday, March 17.
There will be no permanent street closings during the Tournament games, however there may be slight delays in traffic.
There are several other events taking place during this time, including the Rodes City Run, plus performances at Actors Theatre and The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.
We recommend that you plan your travel with this in mind. The Louisville Metro Police Department will have a sufficient number of officers on various posts to expedite traffic before, during, and after the games.
On Thursday, March 15, traffic will mostly be affected from 10am-11pm and Saturday, March 17, from 10am-7pm.
As you plan your visit to downtown Louisville, it may be helpful to refer to these maps of downtown parking and dining options.
This is an awesome opportunity for our city. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and patience.
