Drawing on Irish traditions, the combined talents of the performers propel Irish dancing and music into the present day, capturing the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures in an innovative and exciting blend of dance, music, and song. Of all the performances to emerge from Ireland - in rock, music, theatre and film - nothing has carried the energy, the sensuality, and the spectacle of Riverdance.
From an article in DC Metro Theatre Arts, "One reason Riverdance has been so successful is that it branches out into many other forms of percussive dancing, beginning with a fiery flamenco “Firedance” by Marita Martinez-Rey. Russian Cossack dancers take the stage for “The Russian Dervish” which mostly involves flinging ones legs over ones heads and spinning as fast as humanly possible. Finally, American tap dancers Michael Everett and Ty Knowlin battle it out with Irish step dancers in “Trading Taps,” showing the evolution of both forms."
The Boston Globe reports "The current 20th-anniversary tour of the Irish dance and music extravaganza marks its first in North America in four years, and in honor of the occasion, the show has new costumes, new lighting, new projections, and a new number. If you haven’t seen “Riverdance” in a while, it’s worth a revisit. And if you’ve never seen the show or have kids who’ve never seen it, now’s the time."
"Riverdance sparkles with irresistible charm; long may its river flow" - The Toronto Star
