June 26 Update: LO's Performance of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ™ Postponed
Due to the fire and recovery work at The Kentucky Center for the Arts, Louisville Orchestra’s originally scheduled July 7 & 8 performances of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ in Concert will be postponed until Saturday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 4 at 3:00 p.m. at The Kentucky Center.
Patrons holding tickets to these productions can use the same tickets for the corresponding performance in November. Additional tickets for the new performance dates are now available.
Music lovers who hoped to hear a concert on the July weekend won't be disappointed. The generosity of HARSHAW TRANE allows the LO to present a FREE patriotic concert on Saturday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Iroquois Amphitheater (1080 Amphitheater Rd, Louisville, KY 40214). Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt will lead the Orchestra in a program including Sousa marches, the Armed Forces Salute, music from the brand-new Star Wars score, and other audience favorites. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Andrew Kipe, the LO’s Executive Director, shared “It has become clear that the recovery of the Kentucky Center has a longer timeline than initially anticipated, so the Louisville Orchestra will reschedule these performances and not change the venue. We reviewed all our options of moving the productions and believe that rescheduling is our best choice to present the movie in a huge HD format and have room on stage for the extra-large orchestra plus chorus that is called for to perform Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban In Concert ™.”
Everyone who has already purchased tickets will be contacted by phone and/or email to be notified of the change and that their tickets will be valid for the new dates. Because all tickets were purchased under a no refund policy, and the performances will be performed despite the date change, no refunds will be issued.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban -- In Concert ™ is the third film in this series presented by CineConcerts. The performance features the complete original movie presented on a big-screen with the musical soundtrack provided live by the Louisville Orchestra. An exceptional experience for audiences of all ages, this particular movie depicts Harry and his friends as they face the growing threat of Lord Voldemort™. We encounter Dementors™, and the characters Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin for the first time. The musical score is the third and final Harry Potter movie score composed by John Williams.
