Here's an update from Steve Woodring, our Director of Production and Consulting Services:
"Whitney Hall will be closed until mid-August to complete a $4,000,000 rigging and acoustical installation.
The hall’s original manually-controlled hydraulic motors will be replaced with digitally-controlled, fully-programmable electric motors. The hall’s adjustable acoustic functions - so critical to today’s discerning ears - will be fully restored and enhanced.
Presenters will once again be able to transform the hall’s acoustics from low reflectivity responses (perfect for amplified music) to the crisp, high reflectivity required for orchestral music.
Patrons will immediately notice a marked improvement in vocal intelligibility so important to Broadway musicals and Grand Opera, as well as a new, full and rich orchestral sound. In short, you’ll hear things you never heard before!"
Sounds good to us!
