WORLDFEST 2012 starts this Friday, August 31 and runs through Sunday evening, September 2.The Belvedere lawn behind The Kentucky Center at 5th and Main Streets is quickly filling up with three stages, multiple food and beverage stands, and dozens of booths where international merchandise will be sold, and community networking and children's activities will take place! We're hoping rain and winds from Tropical Storm Isaac turn out to be less torrential than currently predicted so that as many people as possible can come out and experience the food, music, and fun at this annual event.
Naturalization Ceremony: Presented by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Office for Globalization, the ceremony will swear in nearly 300 new citizens representing 66 countries on Friday, August 31, at The Kentucky Center for the Arts in the Bomhard Theater. The ceremony starts at 1:30 p.m. Excitement and emotion in our lobby reaches a fever pitch as proud family members assemble prior to this event. You simply cannot walk through this crowd without getting a tear in your eye and a lump in your throat. Their enthusiasm and gratitude to our country and the city of Louisville on this auspicious day rolls through our lobby like a wave!
Worldfest is a free event open to the public from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., Friday, August 31 - Sunday, September 2! New attractions this year include expanded activities for children in the Kid’s World of Discovery and a Global Village that will showcase the culture and customs of more than 22 countries under one roof.
