Imagine how rare it is that an individual has the necessary talent and character to be chosed to dance with a company that travels the world. Imagine how short and intense that career may be. What are the odds that two dancers, who dance for different companies - performing in different parts of the world - can manage a solid family life, while calling Louisville "home"?
The Courier-Journal's Elizabeth Kramer recently interviewed Momix dancer Morgan Hulen, who talks about the challenges and rewards of this unconventional creative life, in her article "Louisville-based dancers choreograph careers and family life live."
MOMIX will perform "Botanica," a celebration of Nature, the seasons, and evolution, at Louisville's historic Brown Theatre on Friday night, March 8. Tickets are still available.
When he's not on the road, Morgan lives with his wife Amanda and their young daughter in Louisville's Crescent Hill neighborhood. The couple met in college and travelled to Kentucky years ago to audition for the Louisville Ballet. Both were chosen to be part of the company, and Amanda still performs with them. Hulen has been dancing with Momix for three years.
