For the past two Fridays, a diverse group of people have come from downtown offices as well as the suburbs to enjoy the benefits of yoga and camaraderie at The Kentucky Center.
The Center's FREE YOGA FRIDAYS series is open to the public every Friday through August 29. Bring your mat (and maybe a towel and water bottle) and be ready to sign-in at 11:50. Class runs from noon- 1 and is taught by Jamie Calzi. Beginners are welcome! New participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
Our Friday, June 20 class will be held on the Whitney Hall stage accompanied by live music! Grab a friend and come join us.
We are grateful to the community and the local media for helping us get the word out about this free, fun, midday wellness opportunity. What should you expect? Here's an excerpt from a recent Courier-Journal article:
"I offer modifications for those who are new, and for those who have been practicing yoga for a number of years, they'll find it challenging as well," said instructor Jamie Calzi.
During a recent class, a diverse crowd was spread across much of the center's lobby, following Calzi's gentle commands while mellow tunes by such artists as John Mayer, Edwin McCain and the Dave Matthews Band played.
"The first week we had close to 60 people, and (last week) we hit 75, so I am thrilled with the turnout," said Calzi, whose background includes teaching at Betsy's Hot Yoga Louisville and the Louisville Ballet. "The energy that's being created is amazing — so positive.
