2015 Kentucky Center Academies for Arts Integration Announced

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Since 2000, The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts has partnered with the Kentucky Department of Education and KET to provide top quality Professional Learning Academies in the Arts and Arts Integration for Kentucky public school teachers. This summer, we are proud to announce the following four Kentucky Center Academies for Arts & Arts Integration:
Arts Academy in Corbin, June 15-19 for Arts Teachers
STEAM Academy (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in Murray, July 6-10 for Elementary Teachers applying as a team of one arts teacher and one STEM subject teacher form the same school.
Arts-Literacy Academy in Florence, July 20-24 for teachers, grades 4-12 of the Arts (any art form), English/Language Arts, and Social Studies/Holocaust Studies. Teachers must apply to this Academy as a team consisting of one Arts and one non-Arts teacher.
Arts-World Language Integration Academy in Bowling Green on July 27-31, for teachers of the Arts, Spanish, and/or Mandarin Chinese.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: April 17, 2015
The objectives of the Kentucky Center Academy for Arts Integration are to provide training, increase knowledge, and develop new skills in the following areas:
Understanding Kentucky Core Academic Standards in subjects covered by Academy
Creating and Performing strategies that can be integrated with other subjects
Formative and summative authentic assessment of creative work
Tips and challenges in collaborative lesson planning and co-teaching
Understanding the Program Review in the Arts (and accountability in non-arts subjects as applicable)
Certified teachers in Kentucky public schools are eligible for of these Academies (please see Academy applications for more specific details)
World Language teachers (classified or certified) in Kentucky schools are also eligible for the Academies for Integration of the Arts & World Languages in Bowling Green.
Two of the Academies (STEAM in Murray and Arts-Literacy-Social Studies in Florence) require a team of two teachers (one arts, one non-arts) to apply together. Please refer to the application information using the links provided above for further information. The STEAM Academy is for Elementary grade teachers only.
Only Arts Teachers may apply to attend more than one Academy.
Teachers are paid a stipend of $500 to attend. Upon acceptance, we will notify teachers about available hotels in the vicinity of the Academy for which they are accepted. At this time, funds are not available to cover lodging costs.

PLEASE NOTE: Only Arts teachers may apply to more than one Academy. Sites and dates are subject to change. Academies in specific locations may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
