The Courier-Journal recently published an article about the successful turnaround of Louisville's Lincoln Elementary from a school that was slated to close to an Arts Magnet elementary school that is now in high demand.
The Kentucky Center was mentioned in the article for a role that we played in partnering with Jefferson County Public Schools. We provided whole-school faculty and staff training in 2009 in a summer Institute, modeling how to teach about the arts and how to integrate the arts across the curriculum.
The Kentucky Center was also one of several prominent community cultural partners that served on the Design Committee in helping to create a vision for this school.
Through the Gheens Great Expectations program and outreach through our Programming department, we continue to share extraordinary artistic learning opportunities with students and faculty at Lincoln, such as bringing Jinjoo Cho (Gold Medalist at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis) to play for and meet with music students at Lincoln Performing Arts School.
