The Kentucky Center co-presented the premier screening of KET’s documentary Murals of the Holocaust on February 19 in the Bomhard Theater. This 30-minute piece tells the story of the Holocaust education program at Western Kentucky University’s summer camp for gifted high school students. These students have created a large mural about the Holocaust each year for more than 20 years.
Following the screening, our guests attended an exhibit and reception in the North Lobby. On display were eight of the WKU murals as well as student art created by The Kentucky Center’s Partner Schools participating in the Anne Frank Bearing Witness Project. Somber Klezmer music performed by “Lost Tribe” added another layer of creative authenticity to the evening.
KET will show repeat broadcasts of the documentary on March 22 and April 28. The Kentucky Center’s Anne Frank Bearing Witness Project and the multi-city tour of the Holocaust Murals were made possible by grants from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence.
